What is Cement?

The Cement Calculator estimates the number of cement bags needed for your construction project. It calculates based on the volume of work and the cement-sand-aggregate mix ratio.

Common mix ratios in India: - M20 (general): 1:1.5:3 - M15 (light): 1:2:4 - M25 (structural): 1:1:2

Formula

Wet Volume = L × W × Thickness Dry Volume = Wet Volume × 1.54 (54% increase for compaction)

For M15 mix (1:2:4): Cement Volume = Dry Volume / (1+2+4) Cement Bags = Cement Volume / 0.035 m³ (volume of 1 bag) Sand = Cement Volume × 2 Aggregate = Cement Volume × 4

How to use this Cement Calculator?

1. Enter length and width of the slab/area. 2. Enter thickness of concrete. 3. The calculator assumes M15 (1:2:4) mix ratio. 4. See cement bags, sand, and aggregate needed.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a cement bag cost?
A 50kg bag of OPC cement costs ₹350-400 in India. PPC cement is slightly cheaper at ₹330-380.
What is M20 grade concrete?
M20 means the concrete has a compressive strength of 20 N/mm² after 28 days of curing. Mix ratio is 1:1.5:3 (cement:sand:aggregate).
How many bags of cement for 1 cubic meter?
For M20 concrete (1:1.5:3), you need approximately 8-9 bags of cement per cubic meter.
