What is Discount?

The Discount Calculator helps you find the final price after applying one or more discounts. It's especially useful during sales like Flipkart Big Billion Days, Amazon Great Indian Festival, or Myntra End of Reason Sale.

'Extra 10% off on 30% discount' doesn't mean 40% off — it means the 10% is applied on the already-discounted price. This calculator shows you the true effective discount and actual savings.

Formula

Single discount: Final Price = Original Price × (1 − Discount/100)

Double discount (e.g., 30% + 10% extra): After first: Price₁ = Original × (1 − 30/100) = Original × 0.70 After second: Final = Price₁ × (1 − 10/100) = Price₁ × 0.90 Effective discount = 37% (not 40%!)

For ₹5,000 with 20% off: - Discount = ₹1,000 - Final Price = ₹4,000

How to use this Discount Calculator?

1. Enter the original price. 2. Enter the discount percentage. 3. Optionally add a second/additional discount. 4. See the final price, total savings, and effective discount percentage.

Frequently asked questions

Is 30% + 10% extra same as 40% off?
No! 30% + 10% extra = 37% effective discount. The second discount is applied on the reduced price, not the original. Example: ₹1,000 → ₹700 (30% off) → ₹630 (10% extra) = 37% total.
How to calculate discount from two prices?
Discount % = ((Original Price − Sale Price) / Original Price) × 100. If MRP is ₹2,000 and sale price is ₹1,400, discount = (600/2000) × 100 = 30%.
What is the best discount strategy for shoppers?
Compare the final price across platforms, not just the discount percentage. A '50% off' on an inflated MRP might cost more than '20% off' on a realistic price.
